We're kicking off the season with Scholars Speak II on October 15, 6-8pm, reimagining the landmark 2008 MAS salon, which also kicked off our now 18-year partnership with The Phillips Collection. In 2008, we were graced by the participation of prominent 20th and 21st Century scholars of the times, including Drs David Driskell, Beth Turner, and Floyd Coleman, moderated by Dr. Leslie King Hammond. On October 15, we're bringing in a new slate of scholars who have emerged in the 21st Century, including Dr. Tuliza Fleming, Curator of American Art at the National Museum of African American History and Culture, Dr. Jordana Moore-Sagesse, Professor of American Art at the David C Driskell Center at the University of Maryland College Park, Dr. Melanee Harvey, Associate Professor and Coordinator of Art History at Howard University and Camille Brown, Associate Curator at The Phillips Collection, to take a fresh look at the provocative 2008 topic, Looking Back, Looking Forward. The salon panel will be moderated by Dr. Adrienne Childs, Senior Consulting Curator at the Phillips Collection.
